How Readingtonbees Started
Readingtonbees began with backyard hives and a family that first got into beekeeping for the honey.
Over time, we learned the hives gave us more than honey. After harvesting, we started rendering and filtering the beeswax at home and realized how useful it was. We began making beeswax candles and lip balms for ourselves, then wanted to share those simple handmade goods with others.
The bug repellent sprays and roll-ons came from a real problem we kept facing outside. Bugs made it harder for us to stay comfortable and continue doing the work we enjoy: tending the bees, working in the garden, and spending time in the yard. So we started making simple bug repellent sprays and roll-ons for our own outdoor routines.
Today, Readingtonbees still uses that same idea: make what we need, use what we have, and share simple handmade goods.

The Beeman Started
Readingtonbees began with our dad, Brian Klein: The Beeman. He started tending backyard hives here in Readington, New Jersey, with one main goal in mind: honey. -

Then Came the Beeswax
After the honey harvests, we saw how much natural yellow beeswax the hives gave us too. Our mom started rendering and filtering it at home, then using it to make beeswax candles and lip balms for our own family. -

Expanded Our Hives
Six months later, our time outside around the bees, garden, and yard showed us another problem: bugs. Our bug repellent sprays and roll-ons started as simple solutions to help us stay comfortable while tending the hives, working in the garden, and doing the outdoor work we cared about. -

Today, Readingtonbees is still built from that same family rhythm: Dad with the hives, Mom with the beeswax, garden herbs, batches, labels, and packing, and their four children helping behind the scenes with the website, marketing, product ideas, and filling in wherever our parents need extra hands.
